I WAS SEEKING BRAINS!!!

At Clackamas Community College many of us are still young at heart, so we take full advantage of the approaching Halloween holiday to dress up in costume.  Today (Oct. 28th) some of us did just that.
Here is Norma, looking like the evil witch from Snow White.  Where is her apple????  She must have given it to a poor unsuspecting student who is probably now in a deep sleep somewhere on campus!

Here is the lovely Sharon...but wait!  Take a closer look!
She has spiders and webs all over her!!!
EEEEEK!!! I hate spiders!!

Now who let this Zombie in???
Looks like she has had a meal recently.
Zombie Rose (yep, it's me) walked all over campus asking if anyone had brains and I always received answers like:
No brains here!
I don't have a brain.
Go look in ITS, they are smart and must have brains.
I used up my brain.

Even the cafeteria said they were fresh out of brains!
What's a zombie to do...

This zombie found a bat hanging around her office and nibbled on that.  Mmmmm!
Tastes like chicken!  Kinda...

I worked so hard at my computer!  See!  Bloody fingers!
ANYONE WANT TO JOIN ME FOR A BITE?

I NEVER WOULD HAVE THOUGHT OF THESE!!

I was having fun reading this website:  http://costumeideazone.com/ciz/costumesbycategories.aspx?c=8
and the actual costume ideas people had suggested.  I laughed so much.
Here are a few examples:

*Tickled Pink -Wear pink clothes and carry a feather.

*Booby Trap -Wear your bra outside your shirt. Attach two mousetraps.

*Hole in One -Take a piece of cardboard and cut out a large "1". Then cut a hole in the middle of the 1. Attach it to your chest.

*Self-Absorbed -Attach sponges all over your outfit.

*THE MEN WILL LIKE THIS ONE: God's Gift to Women -Find a box large enough to fit around your body. Cut some holes for your arms and head, and then cover the box with wrapping paper. Add a large bow. Attach a tag that says "TO: Women, FROM: God".

*Peter Pan -Put a pan on your head and a "Hello My Name Is Peter" sticker on your shirt.

*MacGyver -Just carry a Swiss army knife and a roll of duct tape.

*All That and A Bag of Chips -Attach a small bag of snack chips to the front of your shirt. When people ask, you can say "I'm all that and a bag of chips...."

*Nerd -Attach Nerd candy boxes all over yourself.
*Babysitter -Strap a baby doll to your behind and sit on it.

*Goldfinger -Paint one of your fingers gold.

*Blow Up Doll -Cut the valve off of a beach ball or swim toy and attach it to the back of your hand.
*Pirate and Treasure Chest -He dresses as the pirate. She wears a gold shirt, and attaches gold, silver, and pearl beads, and gold and silver chocolate coins to chest area.

*Cereal Killer -Take a bunch of empty miniature cereal boxes, stick plastic knives in the sides, paint with red paint or nail polish to simulate blood. Pin the boxes all over yourself.

*Coat of Arms -Cut the arms off several long-sleeve shirts, and attach a stuffed glove to the end of each one. Fill the arms with stuffing and attach them to the back, sides and front of an inexpensive jacket.
*Dust Bunny -Wear a dirty old white bunny costume and carry a feather duster, or "dust buster" vacuum.

*Center of the Universe- Wear all black, with a few stick-on stars. When people ask what you are, say "I'm the center of the universe."

*Cat's Pajamas -Wear an "instant" cat set (ears and a pin-on tail), with drawn-on nose and whiskers. Then add your favorite colorful pajamas!

*Starving Artist -Wear a smock, beret, and carry a pallet of paints. Spatter yourself with paints. Carry a sign that says "Will paint for food."

*Cat Burglar -Dress all in black, with a tool belt, bag, etc. Carry a bag with stuffed cats peeking out. Or, tape record cats meowing and carry the tape recorder in the bag.

*Pig in a Blanket-wear a pig mask and wrap yourself in a blanket.

*Hairy Potter -Wear a huge wig, attach fake hair to your arms and legs. Carry around a bag full of pots and pans.

*Fashion Police -Dress up in "fashionable" clothing. Wear a police hat, a "Fashion Police" badge, and carry handcuffs. Add a utility belt stocked with make-up and hair products. Walk around handing out "Fashion Violation" tickets.

*Grateful Dead -Use make-up to make yourself look like a corpse. Attach thank you notes to yourself.

*Dead Ringer -Dress like a corpse or ghoul (gray-white powdery skin, dark make-up around your eyes, ragged clothes, etc.). Carry a bell. When someone ask what you are, ring the bell.

*Sloppy Joe -Wear dirty, wrinkled, ripped clothes. Button the buttons on your shirt wrong, and leave your zipper unzipped. Mess your hair, have an unshaven face, and use make-up to add smudges to your skin. Wear tennis shoes with the laces untied. Wear a name tag that says "Joe."

*Bloody Mary -Dress normally and wear a name tag that says "Hello I'm Mary." Then cover yourself in fake blood
I was talked into dressing in costume for work on Thursday and Friday!
I may be using one of these ideas for one day!!

THE ADVENTURES OF BROGAN-PART 2: FUN AND FRIGHT

The Saturday saga continues...after Brogan's nap he showed me how he can read the alphabet in his book.  He can point to and say each letter, which is impressive for a 2 year old.   I think he enjoyed showing off to Nana Rose.
Then Grandma Sue gave Brogan a Halloween Mr. Potato Head (he is a vampire!) and they put him together.  The guy even came with his own costume!

Brogan and Grandma had fun doing a little wrestling.  Brogan really got the giggles!  It is so fun to hear a child's uninhibited laughter!
Grandma Sue and I decided that we would walk Brogan over to see the Davis Graveyard around the corner from their home.  This family really gets into decorating their yard for Halloween!  I wrote about it last year (older postings) and you can go to this site to see their slideshow:  http://www.davisgraveyard.com/slideshows/2010/     It is quite cool and lots of work to create!   The Davis Graveyard is located at:  8703 SE 43rd Ave., Milwaukie, OR 97222  (at the corner of Johnson Creek and 43rd Ave).
The graveyard was pretty spooky. All sorts of eerie sounds are heard, spiderwebs adorn the trees and fences, ghosts romp and sing, graves have strange epitaphs, and goblins abound. Brogan watched it all!

Brogan was enchanted by the singing ghost by the gate.  Look! There is one up in the window of the second story!
There are ghosts dacing back there under the tree!  Do you see them Grandma?  Do you see them Nana Rose?
This is cool!

If you look really close at what this humongous spider has caught, you will notice a fly that has a human head and arm.  I think I saw that in a movie.  The poor captive screams, "Help me! Help me!" I hate spiders!

What does donations mean? What are those things?
Skulls? From peoples heads? They can't have mine!

Man, these people really go all out to decorate! Hey, don't those crows belong to ol' Edgar?
Look there! In that crypt to the left!  There is a ghost walking in there!
This place is cool!   Look at that ghost.  Look at that spider!  Don't be scared grandma and Nana Rose.  I will protect you and throw my blanket on them if they come close.

It was time to say Farewell to the creatures of the night haunting this graveyard and head home as Nana Rose had one more project to do--she had to paint Brogan's pumpkins!
HAPPY HALLOWEEN TO YOU ALL!

THE ADVENTURES OF BROGAN-PART 1: VISIT TO THE PUMPKIN PATCH

Yesterday Nana Rose (that's me!) went with Brogan, his mom and his grandma (my best friend) as well as two of their friends, to visit the Hoffman Dairy Farm Pumpkin Patch in Canby.  It had been recommended to me as being great for little ones, and it was! So here are our adventures!
We met the Chipmunks and they were bigger than we had expected!  Brogan smiled like a chipmunk!

Then Brogan and Grandma Sue mingled with
some of the Simpson family.
Who knows where Bart and Lisa were.
I am sure Bart is into something that will get him in trouble and Lisa is probably hugging an animal.

Brogan wanted to see what was in the big wooden box.
It held white pumpkins, just like the full one behind him.
Here Brogan warily eyes a couple of baby llamas. He did pet them but
was leery of their mouths!

Brogan did not mind this little piggy until he snorted
at him. He ran straight to grandma Sue and held
tight to her leg for awhile after that!

Here he feeds a goat while clutching tight to grandma!

This little bunny was so cute and lovely!  I wanted to snuggle it and
take it home! Brogan seemed very puzzled by many of the animals
and I think it is his first experience besides the zoo.

Then we went into one area where they had a ball play pen built of bales of hay.  Brogan
really enjoyed this!

"Hmmm...
who should I throw
this ball at?"

"They're mine, all mine!! Hee hee hee!"

Next to the ball play area
was a large box filled with dried corn instead of sand!
The children had fun scooping
and dumping corn into buckets.

"Hey, who said you could
take my picture? Nana Rose
is a pest with that camera. Maybe I should bury her in the corn!"
Look!  Grandma Sue is a cow and Brogan is a little pink pig!! How cute is that!

Brogan is demonstrating his skill as a pole dancer. He went round and round and round this pole!  Seems like kids can be amused by the simplest things--poles, corn, hay...

Brogan rode on the little
merry-go-round. He looked
a little reluctant at first.

Picture at right:
"Fun? Yea, sure mom. Now get me off this thing."

"Why do you want me to go in there, grandma?  What's on the other side?  Is this a trick??"

"Hey look! There's mommy
and Nana Rose!"

Brogan was amazed by the tiger aka "kitty" and at one point the tiger looked VERY interested in Brogan! Notice the sweatshirt has his name on it!

Next we headed over to the pumpkins to see which ones to get.
This was quite an experience and we learned that Brogan is very indecisive!

"Hmmm, this white one looks
cool! Or maybe that one over there. I just don't know."

"Look at this!
Whaddya call it?
Hay?
It's fun!
I can bend it and wiggle it
and throw it..."
MOM:
Come on Brogan.
Let's get pumpkins.
"Here's a big orange pumpkin. What do you think of this one mom?"   LOOK! I found a BIG piece of hay!  See how it bends?"
MOM: Brogan, come on and pick out your pumpkins.

"Come on mom, loosen up and roll in the hay.  It's fun!! What?
You've done that before?"

"Okay, I'm gonna measure this pumpkin with my new
hay measuring tool. Made it myself. Let's see...Yep!  It looks big enough!"

"Hey! Can someone help a fella up here? Grandma, I need some assistance! I've fallen and I can't get up!"

"These two look nice. I think they will do. What do you think, Nana Rose?
Can you paint these?"

"UGH!  ARGH!  UMPH!
What do they fill these pumpkins with- concrete???!
Man, these things are heavy!
I can do it, I can do it, I can... oh darn,  MOM!
I need some help here!"

"WOW! MOM!  Look at this one!
It is big enough for me to sit on!
Can we get it, can we, huh??!
What do you mean it's TOO big?!"

Grandma and Brogan posed on two unusual benches.
One looked like a pig and one like a horse.

"You know grandma, I don't really like pigs! That one scared me!"
"I like this horsey!  He is cool! Giddy up!"
"LOOK AT ME!  I can stand on a pumpkin!
Don't let go grandma!"

"Nana Rose and Grandma Sue liked the pig bench.  Do you know that they have been best friends for a hundred years! They are old, but they are fun!"

"Grandma is a hairy monster and I am a ghost.
I am making a scary face--Woooooo!  Wooooooo!
That's what ghosts say!"

"Wow!
I'm lookin' at a horse!
I think Nana Rose called it a Sweatin' pony.
She thinks it is small but
it looked big to me!"

"Here I am with my mommy. Isn't she pretty?"

Here's mommy and me
going up, up, to the top
of the big slide!

Here we are at the top
and sliding
