SCHREINER'S IRIS GARDENS

I visited Schreiner's and discovered that there are many varieties of irises!  I never knew.  It is located at 3625 Quinaby Road N.E., Salem OR 97303.  I drove down 99E (McLoughlin in Oregon City area) and turned right onto Quinaby, then just follow the signs to Schreiner's.  There are other gardens along the road, so remember the name.  It is up over a bridge and on the right.
I spent 3 hours here taking it all in and shooting photographs.  It is bloom season right now!  Here are a few of the photographs I took.
The colors are so lovely and vivid.  In some of my photographs, I focused on the entire flower, and in others I focused on certain parts to show the shape, movement, color, lines, etc. in a more artistic way.

Wouldn't you love to have these colors brightening up your garden!

Before you even arrive at the gardens you can see miles of irises growing in fields!

Such color!

Boy, if I could afford it I would buy at least one of each color!

Beauty abounds.

The orange iris looks like it is singing.  See the mouth open and tongue exposed.  Or is it just me seeing that?

There are dark-colors and light colors and in-between colors!!

God sure knows how to paint a picture.

Now to show you my "artistic" views.

I even gave each photo a name!

To the left is Blue Curls, to the right is Feminine.

The one on the left is Flirty and on the right Gold/White.

Left-Peachy Keen.
Right-Anemone.

I entitled this one above-Sunrise.

The one to the left is Watercolor.

On the right is Black Hole.

There were other flowers in the gardens as well.  I think I will save those photos for another post.

I hope you enjoy the photographs and maybe make a visit to the Gardens yourself!

  1. Love those gardens and love your eye for the colors. No way in the world I could choose which to take home. And some of them cost $80 for one rhizome! Do you suppose landscape designers select a few choice peach and gold Irises to go in a special focal spot in one yard, maybe a dozen black irises to make a statement somewhere else? Hard to plan for a flower that blooms for two weeks and then reverts to a patch of spiky leaves.

  2. They are beautiful. I had some purple and chocolate brown ones. But, they've bloomed out.

  6. Oh I so enjoyed landing here on a day that you featured irises...some of my favorite flowers, especially bearded ones. The color combinations are amazing!

You'll be happy to know that, in my corner, morning glories are considered annuals as they don't overwinter. Having just dug up a bed of invading Lily of the Valley, I do not want to ever have another invasive plant.

By the end of summer, when the morning glories have climbed the mailbox and are all over the place, people really start telling me about their nasty side.

  8. Hello, Rose
This is an amazing collection of irises. I really like the one that you called Blue Curls; I have purple and mauve ones in my garden, but nothing as colourful as all of these! I snooped a little more in your blog and see that you must enjoy songwriting, which is so interesting!

  11. Hi Rose, the Iris was one of my mothers favorite flowers. Therefore, I love them also. There are so many varieties. I have few in my garden that were starts from my mothers. They are just the simple lavender and yellow but I love them. Last year I purchased one of the peach with lavender petals. It bloomed beautifully this year. Just bought another unusual one. The only thin bad about Iris is they need to be divided about every three years to stay blooming nicely. Thanks for sharing your beautiful pictures. I have a linky party, Share Your Cup Thursday. Would love for you to share this. I am now following you.
    Hugs,
    Jann
