STEPPING OUT OF THE BOX

Have any of you seen the Walgreen's commercial where the two old ladies are in a store wrapped in beach cover-ups and buying lots of suntan lotion. They you see them at a sign pointing to a nude beach, they drop their cover-ups and run to it.  I laugh every time.  Here is the commercial.

But then I wonder if I would be so brave as to go to a nude beach and drop my inhibitions like in the commercial. Sometimes I think: No one would know me there so I could do it in secret, but with my luck I would hear a voice say 'Rose? Is that you?' and turn to face someone I do know.
Or I would not get the lotion all over and end up with a bad sunburn in parts I would rather not say. THAT is why there were 2 of them! They put lotion on each other. Now THAT is true friendship!
Or I would fall and get hurt and not be able to get up, thus requiring rescue and probably a note in the evening news! OH NO!
When I was young everyone would go skinny dipping and I wanted to try it. There was a closed hot springs place in the Orange hills in California and a friend took me there one night. But when we got there, he would not allow me to skinny dip!! Now how many guys would do that?!
When my husband and I once went to a place in Arizona where he said he used to skinny dip, I was thinking 'Now I get to try it!' but he also would not let me saying that he did not want anyone to see me naked.  I think too often I was placed on a pedestal by guys I dated and people I knew.  It made me feel like I had to live up to a certain image--little miss goody two shoes. That was what some called me.  Now I wonder if I would be brave enough to skinny dip or hit a nude beach.  Hmmmm...probably not. Not because I do not wish to, but I would probably scare people now.
Not a pretty sight!  :^)

  1. There's nothing so freeing as going skinny dipping or nude in a hot tub. I say "Go for it, Rose." It's never too late, and it's fun!

  3. You so silly! Skinny-dipping feels so good! You want to do it. You KNOW you do! I will if you will, and I bet we could get a few more. A skinny-dipping party somewhere?

  4. I had to laugh when I read your blog today, Rose! I share all your fears and imaginings; especially the one when anonymous me would hear, "Hey, Alice, is that you?" Not something I'd want to admit to. I used to go skinny dipping with a few close girlfriends at Butte Creek when we could finally brave the chilly spring water. Once though, when we were walking to the local café, we heard some boys behind us, not guys we knew even, saying, "Now I'd like to go skinny dipping with her!" Oh the humiliation! :-) Alice

  5. Great story, Rose, and thanks for sharing. I wonder, too, if I would have the courage to let it all hand out, as they say, and skinny dip. Too much to look at these days when my weight is a constant battle. Oh well, fancy a good hot bath at home, alone? Carl

  6. I went skinny dipping once but with a handful of girlfriends. That was when I STILL had a figure to brag about. I, too, am not so sure I would do it now. Maria

  7. I have always wondered if nudist really do accept everyone and don't judge. I am afraid my eyes would be looking more at the young pretty girls that any old people and probably end up kicked out! And there is no way I could hold my stomach in fir more than 10 minutes! SM

  8. I would say you are blessed to have people who care around you. I know I could never go skinny dipping. Goodness,I don't; even like to see myself in the nude, why would I force others to see me that way.

  9. Skinny dipping is common over here in Sweden, where people have fewer inhibitions about being naked... Loved the ad!

  10. During the 50 days prior to my 50th birthday, I did 50 things I had either never done before or wanted to do again. I had Never gone skinny dipping, but one evening, (late and dark), I finally talked my hubby into going skinny dipping, our own pool, our own backyard, I was still nervous. But, at least I can finally say: I did it! HA - it's nice to have 'healthy' and 'protective' people in your life! Blessings, Cindy

  13. LOL---I am smiling so big right now. Little Miss Goody Two Shoes, huh? But we all KNOW the real you underneath it all was DYING to try it. I love that commercial, too. I laugh every time I see it. I have gone skinny dipping a couple of times in a pool in the yard where no one would see me. It felt marvelous! lol
So...I think we should take a vote and you SHOULD try it! xo Diana

  14. There is a co-ed spa here in Portland where men and women share the showers and hot-tubs naked. It's no big deal, no one stares or comments. Everyone is there for the hot tubs, not for S E X. All shapes, sizes and ages. You ignore the details and focus on the person, rather than the person's appearance.
