OH NO, WE GOT SNOW!

I live in Oregon City, OR and we do not get snow very often at all.  But last week and yesterday we got way too much. Yesterday's storm caused so much trouble; hundreds of accidents, people stranded, cars abandoned, roads moving so slow it was 2 mph so took hours to go short distances.  Over 600 kids were stranded at various schools throughout several cities and some did not get home til 11 pm. School buses filled with kids also got stranded and one slid on a hill and took out three vehicles, one with people in it.  Not good and I am sure the insurance companies will be busy for several days.
Me, I do not venture out in weather like this. I stay home. I look out my windows and keep bundled up.  I did take some snapshots from my viewpoints and here they are. The first shows my now defunked garden in the snow before it got really bad. We got 2-3 inches but it was lots of ice, too.

A feathered visitor hopped across my back deck.

a metal garden art butterfly was bedecked in snowfall.

A metal art piece blew down and was decorated.

Mooshoo watched snow fall and no visitors to the birdbath.

Some of my garden grasses in the white...

A blast of red in the stark white!

I also managed to get a few shots of birds out in the yard. Do not ask me what kind as my reply will only be-bird!

I want to toss in the photo I took of the super moon back in November.
I am just hanging in there all bundled up and keeping warm.

  1. Your photos are outstanding; a favorite is your art piece that has snow on it that looks like a leaf. Stay warm.

    1. Thank you. It is a leaf carved in a piece of metal.

    1. Thanks. I do not venture out so as to avoid any accident. There were way too many.

  3. The first two birds are flickers, both males. Next is a starling, and the rest are male juncos and a female junco.
Having been in your garden most seasons of the year, I am glad you posted these photos of the snow. I too do not venture out in it if I can help it. Yesterday it was just starting to snow when I left Chrysalis. By the time I got home it was beginning to stick. Haven't been outside since except to hand thawed humming bird feeders to Doug to put back up.

  4. Great photos and I'm glad Elizabeth identified them for us.

Sorry to hear about all of the accidents and delays because of snow in your area.

Be well, be safe and be warm. Happy Christmas holidays ~ FlowerLady

  5. I don't have proper bird food, but I threw out a few handfulls of oatmeal. That seemed to go over well.

  6. Beautiful snow but it really socks us in. Yes to Beth's bird identification. We get flickers at our feeder (they love the hanging suet packs); also smaller woodpeckers, sparrow and steller jays; we even got a couple of Alaskan robins along with towees. Stay warm and cuddle up with kitty. Alice

  14. Lovely shots from your garden Rose. Your bird photos remind me of a much loved little book I had as a child, called The Wise Robin - actually I still have it! About a robin building a nest at Christmas including tinsel taken from a Christmas tree. Wishing you a happy Christmas Rose, one filled with happy memories and peace in your heart.
