Here is my new oak entertainment center, which I love! It is big, has lights in each glass section, and lovely carved details.
Notice my gray cat, Mooshoo, in the photo.
These photos show some of the carved details, and claw feet.
The woman I bought it from had originally bought it from a man who'd had it made at a cost of $2400. When he moved into a small senior home he could not keep it. She'd paid $1200 for it and enjoyed it for a few years, then moved into a small home and it did not fit. I fell in love when I saw it and got it for $500. For the three pieces I felt it was a bargain. The center piece is the largest and almost did not make it inside! But after an hour it finally did (slight damage to wall and ceiling but will be repaired). The men told me that if I ever move again, DO NOT call them!
Did I show you my 2 chairs?
They both look alike so just showing one photo. I love the carved details and the fabric fits perfectly for me! They had just been reupholstered! I got them for $50 each. For the quality it was worth it as have seen very similar for $130 each!
Slowly unpacking. I get so tired.
Go, Rose, go! Look at all you've accomplished! Congratulations!

ReplyDeleteThe chair is darling, and the details look hand carved. That was a bargain on your armoire and bookcase. xoxo I have a giant one too that the movers nicknamed "The Beast". It is two pieces, but each piece is enormous; it just clears the sloping ceiling beams. It will probably stay if I ever move.
ReplyDeleteRose,
ReplyDeleteIt all looks so nice, thanks for keeping us updated. Xoxo Kellie
Oh Rose, take my breath away!! I cannot wait for when you are totally finished and you give your followers a photographic tour. Haha cat got in the action!
ReplyDeleteAw and I see you darlin' is watching over things too.
Hugs
Rose
Read other posts, too. Such beautiful pictures of your new acquisitions in your new home! I'm beginning to think I'm going to have to come visit you, not only to see you, but to discover your secret thrift shops and rummage sales. You're doing great, Rose. I'm sure Clay would be proud of you, as the rest of us are. Love, Lynnette
ReplyDeleteI love the way your furniture expresses your personality! Every detail is perfectly YOU! And what bargains you are getting. Not much fun to wait in a cold house. And trying to decide where to put things is exhausting. take good care of yourself!
ReplyDeleteYour furniture is so perfectly YOU. Every dainty detail is just right. And what deals you are getting! You rock.
ReplyDeletenot much fun to wait for hours in a cold house. And deciding where tout things is exhausting. Take good care of yourself and stock up on kitty litter and canned soup. I think you may get snowed in a few times this winter. (Used kitty litter will give you excellent traction on the street in front of the place, and the rain will have washed the stink away before you want to spend time outside. Fresh kitty litter works better on steps and sidewalks.)
Rose- WHAT a gorgeous piece of furniture!!!! You could not even buy the materials to make it for that price and the workmanship is excellent! I love it. Glad you have your stove all hooked up. Have a great afternoon- xo Diana
ReplyDeleteRose, your entertainment center is gorgeous! I hear what the movers were saying. I bet that was one heavy beast. lol! When we bought a new bedroom set in our previous home we bought an armoire to match. There was a sharp curve to our bedroom which was above the garage. They could NOT get it in and we had to return that piece. Love the chairs also. The fabric is gorgeous! Just do a little at a time. That's how I have had to be with my Christmas decorating this year. Glad you are getting settled in!

So glad you are getting settled into your new place. That entertainment center is beautiful! I like your chairs as well! New is nice but repurchased for a good price is great!!! Blessings, Cindy
ReplyDeleteThe armchair is exquisite. I wouldn't dare to sit on a chair like that - it would be reserved for emaciated old grannies! Where will the TV go in your entertainment centre?
ReplyDeleteSounds like a busy but worthwhile day Rose!
ReplyDeleteAll the best to you in 2015!!!
Your furniture and stove looks wonderful and cozy.
