Then today when I got home after a short walk at the college with my camera (those photos will be posted later) I heard a raucous of crows above me in the sky. I glanced up and saw several crows attacking an eagle!!! I grabbed my camera out of the bag and began shooting photos to capture it and show everyone that I am NOT crazy!!
The crows seemed very upset and chased him back to area where I had first seen him near the doctors office not far from my home.
I am planning an eagle hunting day! I want better photo's!
Great eagle shots! How majestic.
ReplyDeleteThat's called mobbing, when smaller birds gang up on a predator bird. It's especially hard on owls when they are out in daylight, since they can't see well when it's bright. The crows may have had young in the area, or were just chasing the threat away in case.... Great pictures. Beth
ReplyDeleteWow! So cool.

Great photos Rose! I didn't realize that an eagle was an uncommon site in OR. We do have them here and they are amazing to watch!

Rose, thanks for the great pictures of the eagle. I understand there are a pair of them living up near West Linn High School and they are frequently seen down around the river. Looks like the species is coming back. Now let's hope the country they represent can do likewise.
