Randy said we needed a little short escape, so we headed off to Newport, Oregon on November 17th to stay at our favorite, Hallmark Resort. We had an ocean view room with a balcony. Our favorite restaurant, Georgie's, is right next door and they make the absolute best Clam Chowder! Mmm! It was a lovely drive going on Hwy's 20 and 34. I took a few shots through the windows.
We had such a great view from our room!We could see the Yaquina lighthouse from the room as well!
We spent November 18th wandering through Newport and enjoying the unique shops in the waterfront. The weather was good for us and we found parking, which is hard to locate during the summer.
I was able to admire the creative artists and their wares.
Randy bought me a mirror that I fell in love with!
We headed home on Tuesday, November 19th. Short trip but still fun!
I was able to finally get a shot of the Sam Barlow house on our way home.
I had always wanted to get one! The present owners fixed it all up.
Travelers on the Barlow trail were required to pay $5 per wagon and 10 cents per head of livestock for the privilege of crossing it.
People did not have much and they were not happy about his tolls along the trail.
I hope you enjoyed the few photos I took.
SO thrilled you and Randy got away for a bit and enjoyed yourselves! We do live in such a stunningly beautiful place💜 Betsy
ReplyDeleteGreat photos. It looks like Barlow did very well with his toll road.
